delta.chat advertises that they provide “🔒 Audited end-to-end encryption safe against network and server attacks”, but if you click through it turns out that supposed audit:

(1) didn’t actually cover their e2ee but only a key establishment protocol and

(2) wasn’t actually an audit. Instead, unprompted, some researchers took a look at that key establishment protocol and found 20(!!) separate flaws. This research was not intended as an audit, nor was it commissioned or paid by delta.chat.

Google announced that as of September 2026, it will no longer be possible to develop apps for the Android platform without first registering centrally with Google. This registration will involve:

- Paying a fee to Google
- Agreeing to Google’s Terms and Conditions
- Providing government identification
- Uploading evidence of the developer’s private signing key
- Listing all current and future application identifiers

The UK has announced plans to fast-track legislation requiring “age verification for VPN use”. The correct term, however, is not age verification but identity verification.

A law like this would require everyone to identify themselves in order to use a VPN. This would pose a risk to whistleblowers, violate human rights, and represent yet another step toward an authoritarian society.
