Even just looking at it with "strings" shows me that there's a phase verifying the firmware version.

If one would throw out everything that is not the actual exploit, I'm pretty sure the binary would look much smaller.

A large part also pointers to libraries.

I feel like the secret to booting mainline Linux on a BlackBerry is sooo close, but with my current skills just slightly out of reach.

(Can't be that hard, for someone who knows assembler, to find out what the device gets sent via USB that allows booting something that is not intended. Most of the 20 kB that make up the binary are just info, menu, error messages... I really hope someone will have a look, cause I dont know the slightest bit about decompiling and reversing tiny binaries.)
(Exploit can be found here: https://drive.sajattack.xyz/index.php/s/cPGzasTktng5axz in case anyone is wondering.)

It's so annoying that the exploit for the BlackBerry Key 2 LE is proprietary.

No, I'm not executing your random binary with full root rights.

Yes, I would like Linux on my BlackBerry Key 2 LE.

But I will wait for someone (with the right knowledge, not me) to reverse the binary so we can have a FOSS version...

Also, I'd love porting Mobian to this thing.

Why don't we, say, turn off Legacy 32 Bit IP on the same day as legacy 32 Bit time ends?

We could just say it is the 32 Bit Flag Day.

What a week, huh?

BTW, if anyone wants to build a #Pebble app* for #LinuxOnMobile, I'll provide the hardware.

Get in touch.

*or add support to another smartwatch app, port one from UBPorts/Android/whatever

Da steigst du in den ICE und triffst direkt auf einen Kernel-Entwickler.

Hier wird ein Treiber für einen Helligkeitssensor gebaut.
