Auschwitz Memorial9 January 1943 | Before noon a Czech prisoner Georg Zacharatka (no. 75749) escaped from the camp. 150 SS men & 200 functionary prisoners were engaged in the search. At night Georg was captured by 3 SS men, brought back to the camp and incarcerated in the bunker in Block 11. He was executed by shooting 5 days later.
