Los #cementerios, en su #mutismo arcaico, me resultaban atractivos. Por tanta cacofonía del tránsito y tumulto de la #ciudad, por esas odiosas #multitudes de la urbe que son tan malas companías siempre, es que yo, el paseante, dirigía mis pasos hacia el #escape de toda esa desesperación para encontrar así, por fin, la #acogida que solo son capaces de brindarnos esos límites amables y sagrados. Entrar solo a un #cementerio es como cruzar el umbral de un #templo vacío, como escudriñar de pronto una plétora de enigmas eternos, silenciosos y, para uno, desconocidos. Lugares que poseen, además, una #vida obstinada que se introduce todo el tiempo en ellos, que se filtra rebelde por todas sus grietas profundas, que las invade como si pretendiera burlarse de la intención fúnebre con la que fueron construídos. Allí en el cementerio, uno observa que la vida es, con frecuencia, más poderosa que la #muerte.

We were nearing the climax of the show: the bad guys were starting to fall, one by one. When the Big Bad's hitman took a bullet (dispensed by the Big Bad, of course--the bad guys are always double crossing and betraying each other), my sister pulled a face.

"Awww," she said. "I kinda wanted him to #escape ."

"You wanted the hitman to escape?!" I listed all the people he'd killed on the Big Bad's orders.

"I know," she said. "But he has really nice eyes & a great voice."

Next to the lance was a gem-encrusted tome, labeled “Gospel According to St. Judas (310 AD).” There was a palpable sense of power emanating from it. It wasn’t my imagination. Was this an unknown copy of the Gnostic Gospel of Judas or something else? Whatever it was, why was it being kept a secret, locked in a vault?

The third item in the case was an unadorned parchment scroll. After the previous items, its plain appearance was underwhelming. I didn’t sense any supernatural power emanating from it. However, the label riveted my attention: “Covenant of St. Judas, Council of Nicosia (December 1191)” This was the second time in as many days that I had seen a reference to the Council of Nicosia.

Nicosia had been a Templar stronghold. Yet I didn’t recall learning about this council in class. Why was it so important?

I looked at Emily, who was standing next to a blackened bronze tube, roughly one and a half meters tall. “Did I just #escape from an insane asylum? What the hell is this stuff?” I said.

"He's been going on and on about this for hours." I looked Jerry in the eyes and he didn't flinch. "Also he's been fading in and out."
