Trump's campaign says it's 'not going to talk about couches'

The Trump campaign finally acknowledged the baseless meme alleging that Sen. JD Vance once had sex with a couch.

Several countries around the world banned Fox News because they saw it as propaganda for white supremacy and right-wing extremism. It’s about time we give Fox News the same treatment.

Writers often say the writing is awful, the hard part, they hate it. I mostly enjoy writing.

Today I’ve been entering copyediting and proofreading corrections onto laid-out pages (due to timing issues). I have a great proofreader! I agree with 99.9% of her markup.

But entering corrections—the worst!

I envy people who have the discipline to keep a diary and just write for themselves. I want to be in conversation with others (maybe the one good holdover of academic writing -- I want to see back and forth). I have a much harder time just being in conversation with myself -- I do it all the time anyway.
Thinking about the talking heads saying that Biden should step down after one debate performance. What's the minimum number of billionaire media ceos ordering their employees to do this to have this effect artificially?
@[email protected] This becomes extra confusing when you have taught your dog deliberately to wake you up at a specific time every day! So now who is pulling whos strings? Lol.

The privilege of being treated as an authority has to be earned, but the right to be treated as a human being should be universal. Nobody can justifiably demand the former, but we should all demand the latter.

“This is an ongoing project by Christian nationalists to turn this country to a theocratic state,” says Anthea Butler. Their goal, she says, is to “ make everyone else live under their kind of moral codes which they don't live under themselves.” #Velshi

The effort to 'turn this country into a theocratic state' is being mainstreamed by the GOP

Christian Nationalism is based on the myth that America was founded as a Christian nation. It puts Christianity at the center of American life, and aims to install believers into all areas of public life including, and perhaps especially, the government. Last year, a survey by the Public Religion Research Institute found that 40% of Americans believe that our laws should be based on Christian values. “White Evangelicals especially thought that they were the ones who were able to bring God into this nation,” says UPenn’s Chair of Religious Studies Anthea Butler. “So when you hear talk from people like [Speaker] Mike Johnson … about America as a Christian nation, what they're saying to you is that they want white men to be part of that leadership in this Christian nation.”
