πŸ“£ Service designers of Brighton & beyond

Our Service Design Breakfast Club is back 2 July. You know the drill- there's no strict agenda beyond showing up, eating pastries and talking shop. Freelancers, in-house folks, agency lifers, and the curious are all equally welcome.

It's completely free, we just like to know in advance if you're planning on joining πŸ‘‰ https://ti.to/clearleft/service-design-breakfast-july-2026

This is utterly fascinating and a thing of absolute typographic beauty: https://storiedcolors.com

Clear Insight

A conference for UX researchers who want to become better at understanding people, not just better at running research.

In countries like Australia, public events open by acknowledging the indigenous peoples of the land.

Similarly, a law should be passed so that anyone espousing the virtues of AI should begin by acknowledging the copyrighted material stolen and the wilful damage to the environment (and preferably the now jobless too).

It was my Dad’s funeral yesterday. I don’t know why, but I felt the need to post the eulogy I gave. Maybe I thought he deserved some kind of public recognition – he was a lovely person and a great friend to many.

It was Dad’s funeral yesterday. I delivered a eulogy, somehow keeping it together. I wanted to recognise Dad here, so this is the speech I gave, remembering him as a wonderful father to my brother and me.

Don't forget, our service design breakfast club is this Thursday morning (7th May)

If you don't know about it, we meet every other month in our Brighton studio. Sometimes we have a speaker lined up, sometimes we have a hot topic in mind, and sometimes we simply go where the conversation flows.

Come an join us, we'll chat about all things service design while eating all things breakfasty, if that's your bag.

It's free, we just need a heads up if you'd like to come https://ti.to/clearleft/service-design-breakfast-may-2026

Don't forget! The next Service Design Breakfast Club is tomorrow!

Service Design Breakfast Club meet-up for UK service designers

Bringing people together from Brighton, Sussex and the South East to network and discuss all things Service Design.

Service Design Breakfast Club

Pretty much everything we do in our day jobs at Clearleft goes hand-in-hand with organising an event. We've got project management, years of speaking and curation experience, with all the design and UX thinking we can throw at it. And that's why we've been hosting UX London for 17 years!

Check out this year's rather impressive lineup πŸ‘‰ https://2026.uxlondon.com/

Anyone here have a strong opinion one way or the other about Payload CMS? (https://payloadcms.com/)

The whole React / Node.js aspect doesn't fill me with joy or confidence, but maybe i'm wrong?

Payload CMS | Node & React TypeScript Headless CMS

Payload is an open source, headless CMS and application framework built with TypeScript, Node.js, and React.

This looks hugely important – the Section 28 Justice Coalition.
If you live in the UK, please consider signing the petition to get a public inquiry into the impact of Section 28 on LGBTQ people – the link should be on their website.

There's also an opportunity to write a letter to Section 28 – I've just submitted a short one.

If you don't know what Section 28 was, click on the link...
