I've been trying to follow a couple of people on mastodon.green but can seem to make it work anyone know why this might be?

Discovered an R package today that I think I'm going to be using a LOT.

{checkmate} "Virtually every standard type of user error when passing arguments into function can be caught with a simple, readable line which produces an informative error message"

https://mllg.github.io/checkmate/index.html

Fast and Versatile Argument Checks

Tests and assertions to perform frequent argument checks. A substantial part of the package was written in C to minimize any worries about execution time overhead.

#LoveDataWeek is getting close to an end but there's still time to invite you to take a look at the recordings of the #NWO #openscience in practice webinars to hear about the sharing of qualitative data and interoperable open data, among other topics. https://www.nwo.nl/en/open-science-practice-webinar-series

We featured many interesting speakers including @egonw, @LudoWaltman, @jscaux, @rogierK.

Many of the projects funded through the #NWO #OpenScienceFund are related to #opendata and #FAIRdata. https://www.nwo.nl/en/researchprogrammes/open-science/open-science-fund/open-science-fund-2021-awarded-grants

I love @pluralistic Cory Doctorow's definition of "Enshitification!" Explains so much about modern economies.

«The Internet transition is creating greater complexity which we haven’t developed the means to operate — quite the contrary, the Internet is largely a failed state with much infrastructure at the whims of gangs and their billionaire warlords.»

Thanks @RaoOfPhysics for picking this as the item for our reading club!

The Internet Transition

The Internet is allowing us to build a richer, more complex society but the way in which we Internet today is failing to support the governance systems that a more complex world requires. I take a look at why these issues are related, try to develop an intuition for a way forward, and point at the emerging field that is coming together to build that future.

As per @adam's definition: A podcast is an RSS feed with enclosures. #Spotify specifically is _not_ that. Audience applause indicates approval of the comparison.

I've just released the first version of my new eBook: 'Data: Inception to Publication & Beyond'

The focus is on creating a workflow for streamlined generation, analysis, & publication of FAIR Research data with reproducible analyses both In theory and practice.

It's primarily directed at the members of my consortium The Human developmental biology initiative but should be of general interest to anyone working with research data.
