30 new projects launched in second round Open Science Fund | NWO

In the second and final package of the 2023 Open Science Fund round, 30 projects will receive a financial boost of up to EUR 50,000. The projects cover a broad spectrum of open science practices across all scientific disciplines.

De Open Science Fund 2023 subsidies van maximaal €50.000 zijn bedoeld om projecten te ondersteunen die gericht zijn op het toepassen en stimuleren van Open Science praktijken. NWO wil daarmee een verdere impuls geven aan het erkennen en waarderen van Open Science door ondersteuning van onderzoekers die in deze beweging het voortouw hebben genomen of willen nemen.

ShareTrait: an open data resource to achieve a synthesis of the evolution and ecology of traits

Energy metabolism, development and fecundity are key traits by which species respond to a changing environment. However, data on these key traits is scattered throughout the literature. In the NWO ShareTrait-project we have developed a platform for the collection, reformatting and standardization of trait data. We now want to upscale and transform this platform into a valuable resource the wider scientific community. To do so, we envision a top-down approach by partnering with key journals to mandate deposition of data on these traits, as well as a bottom-up approach to entice and facilitate researchers to deposit their data.

30 new projects launch in Open Science Fund; new applications in July | NWO

In the first package of the second round of the Open Science Fund, 30 projects will receive a financial boost of up to EUR 50,000. This second round is particularly intended for project proposals aimed at further developing open science in fields or disciplines where it is not yet the norm, or projects that promote open science in a large group or community. This round is also intended for project proposals that promote collaboration between different organisations and disciplines and between academic and support staff.
