@eltonfc Interesting yet unsurprising results already. I suspect the reason translations at least in Latin languages went for the infinitive is because they just wouldn’t know what form/person to use.

French would look weird in imperative:
(Tu)   Enregistre
(Vous) Enregistrez

Recently French online shops decided to go with « Je confirme » or « Je commande », as in present tense for “I confirm” , “I order” for actions.

Anyways as always when it gets too complicated latin languages settle down on infinitive (Enregistrer).

Grappigste feitje van deze aflevering van "Onder Mediadoctoren": in de jaren '90, ten tijden van de teletekst-piek, ontstonden er ook een boel beleggingsclubs, waaronder eentje van vrouwen die hun club 'De Spaargleuven' noemde 😂

English speakers of the fedi. In a software with the interface in English, Reading a menu with verbs such as Save, Open, Close, Edit, Format etc., do you read them as imperative (an order: "do this") or as an infinitive (the "base form" of the verb, like "to do this")?

Are you a native speaker or have English as a second language?

Zoals er in sommige sociale mediabubbels uitsluitend wordt gepost over eiwitshakes en droog trainen, zo is de mijne momenteel helemaal gevuld met posts over het loskomen van Big Tech.

Yesterday we heard that our podcast host - Podbean - will no longer deliver dynamic ads to listeners in the EEA/EU/UK, effective immediately.

This is the kick up the ass we needed to finally migrate our show to a European hosting provider. Does anyone have good experience with a European provider that offers dynamic ad insertion?

Designing appropriate cloud services for tech that can be ours ('ourtech') I'm learning how the scale of the operation (how many people using the tech in more or less intense ways) determines the apropriate deployment architecture. And that is key for long term sustainability.

Although technically this is above my head, I do want to get a basic understanding for the high level choices here. Basically I see various collectives use these strategies: 1) docker+ansible deployment, 2) docker+swarm+abra+ deployment (@coopcloud) or 3) kubernetes deployment.

Of course many variations and other scripting exist, but may be beyond the discussion here.

❓Have you noticed that digital products and services are getting worse? So have we!

➡️We have published a report about enshittification, on how and why digital products and services keep getting worse - and how we can turn the trend (hint: open tech, enforcement, public policy++)

Obviously @pluralistic is a big inspiration and help in this work.
