New year, new website! Would love you to check it out and let me know what you think.

Big thanks to @JamesFoleyBooks for the update - I would be very lost without you (in more ways than one).

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: if there are any former-bird site #AusWrites folk here, hit me up. I’d love to connect again 😊
I keep seeing lots of long-time #fediverse users saying 'don't favourite posts it does nothing' but actually when you favourite my posts it makes me smile and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
I have switched servers for what I hope is the last time! Although, I've learned quite a lot in the process!
So introducing myself again!
I'm Ellen Oh, I write #kidlit and #YAlit and edited a few anthologies. I'm CEO and a founding member of #WeNeedDiverseBooks. I'm really worried about the current bookbans and soft censorship targeted at school libraries. Hoping to connect w/ all my peeps here again and meet new folks!

I need to borrow my 4 year old’s attitude. I’ll often hear something like, “I’m good at jumping!” Then he’ll demonstrate. And it’s not an especially brilliant example of jumping. But he completed his objective: he jumped. And he had fun doing it.

If I applied the same attitude to my writing, I think I’d feel a lot better about it. As in, the words themselves don’t have to be prize-winning. I just have to do the thing - write - and have fun with it. I reckon if I do that, I’m “good at writing”.

For new followers, I'm the #arts and #culture editor of The Saturday Paper, an independent Australian print newspaper that, surprise! comes out every Saturday. If you don't subscribe (please support independent journalism wherever you are, though) you get one free article a week - or you can sign up for The Arts newsletter, which comes out every Tuesday and gives shiny free links to the culture coverage.

I’m assuming it’s a glitch that I can’t change my banner. I’m not missing some key piece of information about how to do it, am I? It should be intuitive?
Hello to the #writingcommunity! It’s been so nice to meet so many of you over the last couple of days. In addition to connecting with other people interested in #writing #yalit #kidlit #childrensbooks and #poetry, I’d really love to meet a #writermum or two 😊 I have an almost 5yo, a 19mo, a part-time job, big writerly dreams, and a lot of FOMO. Anyone else in a similar boat?

The beautiful thing about working with an #illustrator is that it’s possible to love your own book as though it’s someone else’s - because it IS! I’m also finding with a #PictureBook it’s easier to hear praise because it’s shared with someone I think is great too! I mean, look at those gorgeous babies on the cover! Didn’t Rebecca Mills do an amazing job?

AUSTRALIAN WRITERS JOURNOS & AUTHORS: Thx to @timinclimate for the Inspo from his post bringing climate advocates & communicators together.

Please help me help everyone find Australian #writers #journalists #authors #publishers on Mastodon - no matter the genre/outlet. A lot of people are coming in and it would be great to able to find our #writingcommunity easily.

Can you please:
1. Boost this post (ie: retweet)
2. Reply with the full @username@server handle for everyone you know who fits this category?

That way we can get a whole list together to share.
