I just had to update my numbers for a lecture, so here's your periodic reminder: Starlink is now 55% of ALL active satellites in orbit.

And given the recent news about that awful billionaire unilaterally deciding to cut of Starlink internet access to parts of the world whenever he wants to, this is extra important to share. Why did our governments effectively gift Low Earth Orbit to one awful dude? This is so bad.

I decided to learn a new technique on the lathe today. It involved hollowing end grain, so I started with some nice easy to work softwood.

Just kidding, I went with a chunk of dense, well-seasoned flamed maple, because I am not a clever man.

On the plus side, after a couple of hours in the shop I can now back-hollow with a bowl gouge and am only slightly traumatized by the experience.

Goor morning friends! Yesterday was a great day for wildlife! I saw a snowy owl, coyote, barred owl, and some cross bills! Although the snowy owl wasn't in a nature spot like I would have preferred, (it was on top of a roof), I was able to get flight shots. I hope you enjoy them.
