CarolynOne day an owl that I was watching took off, flew across a field, and caught something!!!
Amazing that it could've seen/heard it from the distance it travelled.
Snowy owls can be anywhere, though you will find them around fields. They can be on the ground, on fence posts, light/power posts, trees, rooftops, and atop barn silos. :)
This was possible drama unfolding. A mink had appeared next to me, ran across a frozen pond, TOWARDS possible death. That is a snowy owl atop the heap of rubble. At its base we can see the mink in the snow. The owl was facing right, it seemed to pay no attention to the mink. The mink disappeared into the rubble, possibly a den. It's possible the owl had recently eaten, so was just basking in the sun, uninterested in more food.

Another owl, another day. This is far into the Leslie Spit, on an area that is in the process of being built up. This manmade spit has been and is being built up by dropping construction rubble into the water. Because of the trucking, this area is closed to the public until after 4pm on weekdays, open completely during weekends.
