My default state is executive dysfunction and hyperfixation on a special intrest. My main special intrests are Spider-Man and Presidential history. 26. She/her/hers. Autistic, ADHD, OCD, Dyspraxic. M-spec/bi/ace/queer. Mostly I talk about autism. Sometimes aliens.
Well…#twitter is a facist cesspool now and also does not work so. Lol.
This isn’t necessarily a bad thing btw it’s just…A Thing About Me.

I feel like I’m not always fully situated in my body and my senses. My thoughts are so vivid and so intense they sometimes feel more real and more strong than reality. Sometimes I have to take a moment to remember I have a body, and am on an earth, in a room.

It’s not quite dissociating. It’s more just being really in my head all the time? I come back to earth and it’s…not dull. But just so solid and less nebulous.

#northcarolina is planning to institute a #DontSayGay law that will forbid discussions of #queer content with children fourth grade or under, require teachers to have their lesson plans approved by parents, and require school faculty to out any queer students to their parents.
We've seen the dangerous impact of laws like these from #Florida and if you live in North Carolina, you MUST contact your legislators to fight this

@clarablackink @lifewithtrees Ooh that’s really interesting. Really shows how much eugenicists have twisted the theory of evolution. Natural selection doesn’t always mean the biggest, most aggressive members win.

I might look into adding that to my very long “when I have spoons,” reading list lol.

(Social Darwinism has a lot of other downsides besides just being scientifically inaccurate, but it is also very scientifically inaccurate).

@looneybyron I’m glad!!

@lifewithtrees @clarablackink

I know there’s a theory that part of the initial reason we evolved to live in such tight knit social groups is because of how difficult giving birth became as our heads got bigger and our pelvises got smaller. People needed a little extra help with the process. Caring for and supporting each other is how humans adapted to so many of our evolutionary disadvantages. It’s one of our biggest evolutionary advantages.

@looneybyron 💕I’m sorry you had to face that, but I’m glad your kids have someone to count on. I know this is sadly too common for disabled people.

I’ve gotten very lucky about the people in my life but not everyone has.

@YKantRachelRead Yup. Honestly it’s so insidious. Especially since the people scoffing at disabled people for “mooching off others,” are definitely not out there fending for themselves.

@[email protected] yeah, we all learn at our own paces. Tbh, there’s certain skills that I may never be 100% independent at and that’s ok. I really hate when people make me feel lesser for that.

Maybe I’ll learn at my own pace…but I also need to be told it’s ok if I don’t, and to know I’ve got a support system in place so I can live a happy life anyway. And thankfully, I do have that support system.
