#WritersCoffeeClub 12/27. How can we as writers support one another?

By remembering that we need a large community of writers & readers. Not as individuals building a fandom but as people who want storytelling to exist.

We each build our own corners of knowledge but we reside in the same broader community & it remains vitally important to support each other, to support readers & to make our community a place of refuge for those who nurture it rather than uplifting a few successful tyrants.

Typically because someone broke it in them while they were children.

Kids are silly and creative. Often in ways that trigger a pain in some adults that those adults flail in response to.

Adults demonstrate in hundreds of ways that creativity isn't valuable and some kids grow up to snuff out that inner light within and seek to snuff it out in others.

I love seeing @TheWeeOwl pop up in my feed. Although I covet many of their pieces, I would love for others to buy their work so they can keep making more 💖

I let the little guy settle in against me and when I moved slightly to get up, he opened his eyes and put his paw up "wait". And then he went right back to this.

So, I guess five more minutes...

-Write some story ideas you want to read.
-Start small*.
-Think of it as a chance to explore uncharted territories within yourself, the map will be messy at first but then you'll reach a mountain where you gain perspective and you'll be able to remap a little more clearly.
-If you have fun**, you're on the right track.

Absolutely!

Often times we repair ourselves via our creative work. Reimagining a version of a world with pieces of our own experience slotted into a larger narrative. Using our senses to reshape and move materials to express something glimpsed briefly and elongating that moment of discovery.

But also, "smaller" work like mending is creative because we imagine the damaged object transformed and then we make it so.

Wanting to share some fortifying kitten pictures for everyone who wants or needs them.

Everyone's feeling exhausted this #Caturday but some of us are cuter than others.

Grey cat would prefer that nothing be done to interrupt nap time.

The cats from a couple days ago. They're both being lazy today as it's grey, gloomy and rainy. But, on sunny days they're quite lively until they encounter sunbeams.
