PSA: If you can smell wildfire smoke or see smoky skies you should be wearing an N95 mask. Otherwise you will be inhaling very small particulate matter that goes deep into your lungs. Not good!

My employer, after 7 monthes of work, fired me overnight. Because I would be too "finicky" about code quality and security risks, which would better suit "a bank or cybersecurity company".

Fuck Trump; he’s a convicted fraudster and an adjudicated rapist. I stand with asylum seekers and law abiding immigrants. No, I do NOT consider crossing the border a crime, if it’s a matter of refuge. That’s self-preservation; it’s survival.

Trump is a murdering thief whom some truly fucked up townsfolk elected mayor, and appointed sheriff. He’s a plague on society.

A big epiphany I had today is that LLMs making scores of students “functionally illiterate” is a feature - and not a bug.

When authoritarians come into power the first thing they want to dismantle is higher ed. It’s far easier to manipulate people who have no critical thinking skills.

In a generation’s time we’ll have teachers who grew up with ChatGPT and that worries me A LOT

In ONE DAY, Chat GPT uses the same amount of electricity as it would take to charge 8 million phones. EVERY DAY. It uses the amount of water it would take to flush a toilet 24 MILLION times. EVERY DAY. In one month, it uses 1.17 BILLION gallons - enough water to give everyone ON THE PLANET two glasses of water. EVERY MONTH. It is an ecological DISASTER and if you have any kind of concern for the climate emergency, or life on this planet, you should be refusing to use it.
