My employer, after 7 months of work, fired me overnight. Because I would be too "finicky" about code quality and security risks, which would better suit "a bank or cybersecurity company".

So I'm again #lookingForJob, either at #Montpellier (France) or #fullRemote. I am a #fullStack #developer with almost 10 years of experience on #php, #symfony, #html, #css, #javascript (#jquery and I'm also learning #vue). I am fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Please share, and ask around you if someone would know someone who would know someone, as I have been put in an absolutely shitty situation because of the layoff and I don't really have a network of people I could ask where I live right now
@luciledt That really sucks. I very briefly worked for a hotel chain who replaced me with a whole team of consultants the week I was on vacation. The justice served was that the company no longer exists. By the way, what a good phrase in French for “that really sucks”? My limited vocabulary goes to c’est tres domage, but that’s maybe a little basic.
@johne @luciledt something like « franchement ça craint »

@luciledt

I've given a shout to one friend who was based in Montpelier.

They said that they can ask around their local network.

Do you currently need crash-space?

Also, give a shout here:

They have co-op's that do remote and have EU-based members.

@luciledt in Bulgaria there is a probation period (6mo max) after which boss can't just fire you overnight with no reason and from what I read you caring about quality(even if you overengineer stuff), I guess you have similar laws there so it's all so strange.... Anyways good luck..
@djumaka @luciledt I was also wondering. Seems to be only 3 months in France, unless it's a CDD?
@luciledt Wow. I wouldn’t want to be their customer!
@luciledt WTF! So your former employer would rather pay a huge bill to a cyber security company afterwards for a report that contains "I told you so" in more words? (shared)
@argonaut @luciledt That's unfortunately not uncommon

@luciledt my company has a few open positions that are all hybrid or remote with occasional trips to Paris:

Our back-end stack is Python but we've had PHP devs who adapted well to it.

@luciledt too finicky would work well in an interview with me!

I have no leads for you but will boost. Good luck.

@Goldfigure thank you for your kind words
@LucileDT
Another reminder of the need for a fediverse space equivalent to 'linkedin'
@luciledt I'm so sorry.
We need more people who care about Craft, not less!
Good luck with your search.
@sleepyfox thank you for your kind words
@sleepyfox @luciledt Seconding this.
@pauamma thank you for your kind words
@luciledt expecting to see them in a data leak 3 months from now
@luciledt you may want to check out https://nextcloud.com/jobs/ as full remote option. We also have a good number on France-based people on board 🙂

@blizzz thank you for the link, I'll check it when I'll be at home
@luciledt Well, that sounds like an employer to avoid. We need more people who care about code quality, and not fewer. Good luck! Boosting.
@thirstybear thank you for your kind words
@luciledt @driftini > My employer, after 7 monthes of work, fired me overnight. Because I would be too "finicky" about code quality and security risks, which would better suit "a bank or cybersecurity company".

Sounds like the kind of company making things no one should use.
@lispi314 @luciledt @driftini I was going to ask who the heck was the employer so that we can avoid them also as clients, but I doubt OP can share the info, at least at the moment 8-/
@luciledt @alech Name and shame? I’d consider software, and services from a company that openly plays fast & loose with code security a liability
@luciledt if you know java and c# I might have a security gig. Those are non negotiable though.
@shram86 sadly I do not but thank you for reaching out
@luciledt I recently learned of this company - can’t vouch for them but might be worth a look at their listings? https://xwiki.com/en/company/jobs/

@luciledt "Security is for other people"

So sorry you lost your job to an idiotic work culture.

@SecondUniverse thank you for your kind words
@luciledt you must've been the reason they couldn't go full on AI slop
@luciledt 'we can't have people who do their jobs here'
@luciledt wait, you were too good for them?
@luciledt You did your job too well? I don't think you can sack people for that in my country.
