I console myself sometimes by remembering that the US wasn't particularly well-loved to begin with.
Not to say the loss of our actual allies is minor. On the contrary, it's a complete disaster.
Rather, to point out that the nations of Central and South America, as well as those of the Middle East and Africa, have always understood us, justifiably, as entirely untrustworthy. That part hasn't actually changed.
