I don't have any friends here who are telling me that mastodon would be great if only it had many more participants.

By contrast, I have *many* friends who tell me that they routinely encounter hatred and abuse and feel there's nothing that mastodon does that could help them. My Black friends, my female friends, my LGBQTIA+ friends, it's a pretty consistent report they give me that they just don't feel safe here.

I haven't made a detailed study, but as far as I can make out, the safety of our under-represented participants seems like the biggest problem.
I mean, who is saying that, and why?
I don't understand why "growth" is mastodon's "biggest problem".
Watching a Dalziel and Pascoe, and there's a somewhat younger Anton Lesser in it, and I'm wondering to myself if it's time to re-watch Endeavour.

SEEKING ADVICE
Retoot for reach appreciated!

Apparently with my very weird situation (dual-citizenship and survivor of an American spouse) keeping an address in the USA would save me a lot of trouble on the long term.
I've no family in the US so I'm looking at virtual box service.

If there are any American expat around here who are using a virtual box (not just a forwarding address), I'd be interested in your experience and recommendations, please.

Thank you!

Anyway, it's Friday somewhere.

Beer me.

Also, double-stuffed golden oreo me.

Interesting. The FBI says it foiled a plot at the UFC shitbowl the other night, and the Hill's headline reads "What to know about the alleged failed White House UFC terror plot"

The use of "alleged" here, in reference to an official announcement of the federal government's official law enforcement agency is pretty much where we're at these days.

When you lie all the time about everything, as most actual grownups know, nobody ever takes anything you say at face value.
