Very sad to report that longtime mutual journalist and author @bridget_oshea of ME/CFS Evolving Awareness on Substack and a longtime Twitter mutual passed away July 16 after a heart attack following a years-long struggle suffering from #MECFS.
I’ve lost so many friends and acquaintances to #SevereME and #VerySevereME, especially during the last 8 years when I became Severe.
Will remember you always, Bridget. 💙🕯️

I am leaving the GFM up for now, because if I deactivate it then the donors will not get the updates I post. I have one more bill to pay off with the remaining donations. Then I will send out the final update and then deactivate.
Just wanted to let everyone know that I mailed in the check to Cleveland Clinic to pay off the huge debt that I had!
Due to everyone's donations, I was able to pay off most of it!! I just have to make one more payment for a telehealth appointment I had.

First off, I just want to thank everyone who takes the time to report shady things to keep our server a safe and pleasant place!
Something that could really help us though, in resolving the reports, is if you can report the specific posts in question.
Depending upon how things are reported, sometimes it takes us a lot of time to hunt through and find the posts in question that are violating the rules of the server.
Selecting the specific posts that are a problem, would help us out a lot!

All, In an attempt to further mitigate interactions with bad servers out on the fediverse, our instance is considering implementing a feature called Authorized Fetch. Before we do this though, we wanted to discuss this all with you and get some feedback from the disabled.social community as it can have some (what look to be minor) negative consequences. After careful deliberation between moderators and admins of disabled.social, we have decided to defederate from the new Threads instance owned by Meta.
The decision to defederate is because of Meta's previous history of data privacy violations and poor moderation policies re ableism, racism, transphobia, etc.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause for some of our users trying to connect with friends over there, but we feel it is the best decision for this space.

There has been a noticeable uptick in transphobia being reported to our server.
I want to make one thing *very* clear.
disabled.social has a zero tolerance policy for *any* transphobic content.
Any users, from any server, who are reported for transphobic content will be immediately suspended.
Servers with transphobic content, will also be blocked.
