If Labor’s not going to raise the rate of JobSeeker then they’re not allowed to remind us that Albo had it rough too.
That’s the new rule.
Also, shame on them for not raising it.
The RBA is absolutely *not* independent. It's a facade meant to depoliticise their actions, but they're only independent so long as they don't challenge what the government expects of them.
The RBA board is the Governor, the Deputy Governor, the Secretary to the Treasurer, and six other board members, all appointed by the government. Normally the government might not exert direct oversight, but it is a comedy to suggest that these employees are "independent" of their boss.
Jim Chalmers is the person who made this decision, and it clearly bothers him that he doesnt get the credit for it, so here he is taking a victory lap for something that supposedly someone else did.

1/ Here is the most comprehensive polling on gender identity in Australia.
Polling was done by Melbourne Uni with a sample size of 21,734
Clear national support for Gender Self ID and plurality support for there being more than 2 genders.
We've all heard a lot of nonsense recently about women being silenced on trans issues.
Well when women get to speak it's clear they support trans rights more than men. A clear majority of women are pro trans. This should be completely unsurprising to anyone who pays attention.
Today is Australia's Earth Overshoot Day. If every country lived the way Australians do, then today would be the day we consumed enough resources as the earth could provide in a year.
