I'll be using a virtual journey from Jefferson City, MO to Emmetsburg, IA (my hometown) to visualize how many miles I've ridden on the Katy Trail in Missouri. Stay tuned to the various pages to keep up with my journey.
(Tell all the Northwest Iowa people that there's no way that I'm really riding to Iowa in April. Snow. Cold. Wind. That's why!)
Trying a new thing:
I'll be posting videos of my rides on "Linda's American Cancer Society Fundraisers" YouTube page. https://ytube.io/3bhm
When I was a child, my mother died of a bone cancer called multiple myeloma. She participated in early chemotherapy trials to develop more efficacious anti-cancer drugs with fewer side effects. Her selflessness inspired me to become a cancer researcher. Now, I volunteer for the American Cancer Society. I serve on my state board, and I fund raise by riding my bike on the Katy Trail in Missouri. You can watch snippets and outtakes of my fundraising rides on this channel. Hey, Mastodonites,
I've been silent for awhile.
I've been planning #americancancersociety fundraisers.
#RealMenWearPink is coming up in October.
AND!!
Starting in April (or in March, if the weather cooperates), I'm going to ride 400 miles on the Katy Trail to raise money to support the American Cancer Society of Missouri's mission.

Dear Rest of the World,
We citizens of the US think it looks awfully stupid, too.
On a positive note, C-SPAN (https://bityl.co/GWFv, the nonprofit public TV channel televising proceedings of the United States federal government) is rebranding but can't decide if it wants to be a comedy channel or a political intrigue channel.
Two thoughts:
1. Somebody has to provide comic relief; might as well be US (get it?)
2. Gotta go make more popcorn for binge watching.
Amazing things your GPS unit can do.
“People thought I was crazy when I started talking about these applications,” says Kristine Larson, a geophysicist at the University of Colorado Boulder who has led many of the discoveries and wrote about them in the 2019 Annual Review of Earth and Planetary Sciences. “Well, it turned out we were able to do it.”
Wild & crazy NY Eve:
Watching a British show, b/c, let's face it, British shows are better than US shows.
Anyhow, the characters are having high tea & eating yummy looking goodies.
Not many US shows have this caliber of yummy looking goodies.
And now, I'm hungry for yummy looking British treats.
But, it being the US, there aren't any British treats within ~4300 mi.
Store-brand Fritos, it is then.
Just say it, you're jealous.
Enjoyed a #bike ride on the #KatyTrailMO today.
It was a tad bit cold &, due to weather/traveling/laziness, this was the first time I've been able to ride in ~2-3 wks.
My body was all, "WTH is happening, here? Why are we not lounging on the couch eating bonbons? You're going to pay for this!"
Consequently, in spite of my best efforts to be a #partying fiend, there is a 100% probability that I'll be asleep long before midnight so #HappyNewYear #Mastodon!
#2023 is gonna be GREAT!
Well, I'll be using this one ironically.
