So... I am apparently soon to be a #CNRS researcher 🎉 Stoked to be one of the 2023 entrants!
Looking forward to develop my research project on the importance of #micronutrients for wildlife, ecosystem and human #health working with farmers, ENGOs and other colleagues in 🇨🇵 and 🇨🇦.
Exciting times ahead!!
Human activities variably affect animal #populations. Rigal et al (2023) used a large database (170 #bird species, 20k sites, 28 countries, 37 years) to measure effects of #farming, #urbanization, #deforestation, and #climate (temperature) on bird populations in #Europe.
Quote: "...agricultural intensification, in particular #pesticides and #fertiliser use, is the main pressure for most bird population declines, especially for invertebrate feeders."

I find some of this blowback disingenuous. There were YEARS of consultation and it's not other people's fault if some editors didn't show up and act like it's a surprise. What was a surprise was the timing of the release, which was sudden, but not the nature of the model or the fact that it was implemented. Mike Eisen is the reason why I joined eLife,
While dissent is natural, it should have come much earlier during the consultation period,
