Human activities variably affect animal #populations. Rigal et al (2023) used a large database (170 #bird species, 20k sites, 28 countries, 37 years) to measure effects of #farming, #urbanization, #deforestation, and #climate (temperature) on bird populations in #Europe.

Everything in nature is intertwined. OF COURSE wiping out a broad spectrum of insects in an ecosystem, just because one species (e.g., corn borers) is inconvenient for us, is going to devastate creatures that rely on them for food, like insectivorous birds and amphibians. You can see the "insect apocalypse" by driving out in the country: remember all the bug splats on the windshield when you were a kid? You'll probably get almost none on the same drive today. #BiodiversityCrisis
