So... I am apparently soon to be a #CNRS researcher 🎉 Stoked to be one of the 2023 entrants!

Looking forward to develop my research project on the importance of #micronutrients for wildlife, ecosystem and human #health working with farmers, ENGOs and other colleagues in 🇨🇵 and 🇨🇦.

Exciting times ahead!!

Happy to share for the first time a paper on Mastodon... which is also my first #bumblebee paper!

We showed that dietary tryptophan deficiencies mimicking those found in #corn and #dandelion pollen, impaired workers survival and increased aggressiveness levels, which was counteracted by vitamin B3, as found in #sunflower.

We discuss potential impact and solutions for #conservation, such as associating sunflower with corn as a pollinator friendly practice! 🌻🌽🐝

Supplementation in vitamin B3 counteracts the negative effects of tryptophan deficiencies in bumble bees

While many bumble bee species are threatened, information on their nutritional ecology is still scarce, especially regarding the role of dietary micronutrients.

Sunflowers Linked to Reduced Varroa Mite Infestations in Honey Bees

A new study indicates a benefit to honey bees of local sunflower cropland. Even low levels of sunflower acreage nearby correlate with reduced Varroa mite infestation in managed colonies, researchers found, and supplemental sunflower pollen helps ward off the mites, as well.

I just moved from another server so here is a fresh #introduction.

I am a postdoc/Liber Ero Fellow in Québec, Canada. I grew-up on a small farm in France, surrounded by nature and small-scale agriculture 🏞️🐑

I am studying #ecology, #evolution, #behavior and #nutrition of terrestrial wildlife. Now mostly working on the #conservation of endangered species.

I have been studyin amazing wild hamsters and chipmunks, and recently started working on #bumblebees !
