(2/3) My existing social media accounts have been mostly lurking/read-only for many years, partly because it seemed like some folks preferred a quick Like over genuine conversation, and partly because I felt appalled and helpless about how a lot of other folks are treated in online spaces. I've since taken Online Bystander Training from Glitch (UK) and Right To Be (US).

This is a shameless plea to boost this appeal for more followers. I know I might not replicate the 115k follower count on my “permanently suspended” #Twitter account where I’ve posted for 14 years. Engagement is already much better here and so far it’s devoid of trolls. Your feedback to my polls here clearly show a desire for me to actively post news and 95% say I shouldn’t take down my @elonjet tweets as demanded by the other platform for my account to be reinstated there.

Some shots you can’t plan for.
I was waiting to shoot the rise of a supermoon when the clouds rolled in a ruined the spectacle. Instead of the moon crowning the tip of the Bay Bridge, a flock of pelicans passed over it, in perfect formation mimicking the shape of the bridge.

I’m sad some reporters are distancing themselves from flight tracking or ElonJet. Jack Sweeney might not consider himself a journalist, but his work in building ElonJet and many other flight-tracking accounts is in many ways a journalistic endeavor. The journalism community should strongly defend him and his work.
