1-Day Online Fiction Master Class: Exploring Strategies for Story Beginnings with Karen E. Bender (Zoom), Saturday, April 1st, 2023

So many writing students with imposter syndrome. Having some zoom conferences this week, I felt like everyone is dealing with this. As I was listening during one conference, I watched our cat sitting in front of the door. It was closed. The cat sat there awhile. No one opened it.
I saw him fiddle with the door with his paw.
And he opened it.
I turned to my student, right at that moment, and told her what happened, and said, "Be like the cat. Don't doubt, just do."

"Soon they began to guess they were better people than me, that I as in trouble because I deserved it, and then they liked me better." From "An Interest in Life," by the singular Grace Paley. Today would be her 100th birthday! #gracepaley #shortstories #fiction #writingcommunity
Musk's attack on Fauci--he calls for prosecuting him in a tweet--is so sick and reckless. Fauci should be thanked by this nation for trying to protect its citizens, for supporting evidence-based science. The idea of prosecuting scientists is medieval crap.

I enjoyed talking with Muhammed Sheeraz Dasti about the role of image in fiction in this interview with The News on Sunday in Pakistan. #fiction #pakistan #shortstories #dreams #writingcommunity

The voters who waited, the voters who decided to make a difference, the voters who chose Warnock--thank you! A 51-49 Democratic Senate, what joy!
Am hopeful that Warnock will win. But the closeness of this race speaks to some profound mental illness, instability, something in this country. How can anyone vote for Walker? Seriously. #Georgia #warnock

Glad to hear that Iran is, hopefully, stopping the abhorrent morality police. Here's an amazing essay by a writer in Iran, about her experience being arrested by the police. For what she was wearing. #literarymagazine #CNF #iran
