New year, new call! I’m officially NN3X!

@M0YNG is it possible for me to change my username or should I make a new account and port it over from this one?

Would someone explain what the difference between the three break-in settings? What’s the difference between off, semi, and full? Also, what’s a “side tone”. From context I guess that’s the audio tone my radio’s speaker makes but I’m not sure.

For context I’m trying to setup my IC-705 as a practice oscillator.

Homebrew connecting cable for the Mobilinkd TNC3 with YAESU FT-817.
Does anyone knows how can I do with this setting up? I'm interested in M17 but don't know well.
I'm usually using this Mobilinkd TNC3 for APRS 1200baud/9600baud operation.

I am happy to announce that I passed the exam tonight!  Next up, becoming a #VE, learning #MorseCode, and throwing my band chart out the window!

Even as a #radio enthusiast, I've had massive problems really understanding the notion of #impedance. I can do the math, but it doesn't really internalize, and I'm always thinking about it in a manner similar to having to use tongs to do a jigsaw puzzle.

Until yesterday, when someone describing why an explosion in the air doesn't move into water easily, and the same for an explosion in water:

It's an impedance mismatch.

And the scales fell from my eyes.

Had my first #pota activation today at Ohiopyle State Park, K-1392. My friend, KC3SZH, meet up with me and we passed the mic. Lots of fun!

Saw this at the club meeting last night, a dipole antenna made from two slinkies! This will have to be a future project!

Nothing to do with radio, but here’s a picture of my homemade Mac & Cheese that I made for dinner.
