'Cop City' Panel Member Posted Slurs Online, Archived Tweets Indicate - UNICORN RIOT

Atlanta, GA — Mayor Andre Dickens recently announced a new ‘Community Task Force’ in an apparent effort to appear open to community dialogue around the increasingly unpopular and environmentally-harmful proposed police training center nicknamed ‘Cop City.’ The new panel was launched in March 2023 after another similar entity, the ‘Community Stakeholder Advisory Committee,’ faced controversy […]

Section 230 is intact!

This is great news not just for
#Twitter and #YouTube but also for the Fediverse.

It means that if something terrible, like a terrorist threat, gets hosted on your server, you are not legally liable for its contents.

And trust me, due to the realities of federation, there will be times when bad material will momentarily hit your server -- even if you're the world's greatest content moderator.

We can all breathe a sigh of relief. That is, for now.

Lawrence: 'This conversation was recorded' most dangerous phrase for Giuliani in sexual assault lawsuit

Noelle Dunphy’s lawsuit against Rudolph Giuliani accuses him of violating labor law, sexual harassment law, and laws against sexual assault but, as MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell points out, the lawsuit also claims there are audio recordings of Giuliani – some of which allegedly show Giuliani committed federal and state crimes. Giuliani denies the allegations.

Well, apparently #microsoft #Sharepoint now has the ability to scan inside of password-protected zip archives.

How do I know? Because I have a lot of Zips (encrypted with a password) that contain malware, and my typical method of sharing those is to upload those passworded Zips into a Sharepoint directory.

This morning, I discovered that a couple of password-protected Zips are flagged as "Malware detected" which limits what I can do with those files - they are basically dead space now.

While I totally understand doing this for anyone other than a malware analyst, this kind of nosy, get-inside-your-business way of handling this is going to become a big problem for people like me who need to send their colleagues malware samples. The available space to do this just keeps shrinking and it will impact the ability of malware researchers to do their jobs.

I'd like to thank @supakaity for adding an edit feature to #Calckey. Within a day that I've been able to use this, it's been such a huge quality of life improvement for me. I no longer have to stress out because I misspelled something or forgot a word in a sentence.

She does so much great work. Please show some appreciation and love for this incredible Calckey developer!

BREAKING: Starbucks to shut down *all* Ithaca locations as a part of its union busting efforts.

This means that over 30 people will lose their jobs, as a result of Starbucks' illegal anti-union efforts.
Ithaca was the first city that had 100% of its Starbucks stores unionized & now it will the first city to have all of its Starbucks stores shuttered.

The story hasn't broken locally yet (SB did a news dump last night); message me if you want to cover this
