Bursting with pride to be able to write that on 8 January at 8:24 PM, my beautiful granddaughter, Florence Eden Kathleen Mosen came into the world and into the lives of her proud family. She weighed 3.08 KG, that’s 6 pounds 8 ounces.

The time I have spent today with Florence in my arms is some of the most indescribably precious of my life. She is gorgeous! Mum, Dad and baby are all doing well, and Florence has the proudest granddad ever.

I know this might be an unpopular opinion but it's extremely hard for me to use Face ID on an iPhone because I have trouble keeping the phone positioned correctly. I really, really hope Apple is able to come up with a way to do Touch ID on iPhones once the iPhone SE third generation is no longer an option. I believe I checked all the accessibility options and it's still very hard for me to use. I'm definitely open to suggestions or thoughts on this. This is the only reason I've stuck with the iPhone SE because I've tried this numerous times and have never been able to keep it positioned correctly long enough to complete the setup process, other than it happening once out of pure luck.
Here’s a thread about the Mastodon client @ivory, and accessibility aka. #a11y. The app is in beta, so this is not a review so much as a followup to concerns I raised previously about the developers’ approach to this topic. (thread linked below.) Since I made that post two weeks ago, I’ve joined the TestFlight for the iOS version of the app, and can now write intelligently about the state of the app’s accessibility.

@[email protected] A question: will Ivory be accessible to screen readers? Have you included blind and visually impaired Mastodon users in the beta? OK, that’s two questions! #a11y

The usefulness of a 7z SFX archive cannot be overstated. Assuming you forget your USB stick with portable screen-reader on it, dumping an archive of said screen-reader on your webserver and having it easily accessible when you visit someone is beyond sensible. #NVDASR is one of the world's greatest inventions.
I needed to encode and decode a lot of Base64 strings, so I made a tiny Hammerspoon that does it. It assigns two keys, control+cmd+b to encode a string and control+cmd+shift+b to decode one. The result is then shown to you in an alert box ,with an option to copy it to the clipboard. https://github.com/thequinbox/basespoon

I have mixed feelings about this.
