Just a fellow voyager on this ancient planet that's trying to find hope outside the little Dreamworld so many are so occupied and distracted by.
@JustHereAgain5 from Twitter where I speak a load of bollocks.

#irish too but see little importance in obsessing over our species' imaginary countries

Even if he hadn’t written three of the most-loved #DoctorWho stories, Chris Boucher would be a legend for just this line:

"You know, the very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They don't alter their views to fit the facts. They alter the facts to fit their views, which can be uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering."

RIP Chris 💙💙

Our letter read at #COP27 , in a joint effort. This is part one. This letter was put together by @ScientistRRw , SR Africa, Climate Reality Leadership Corps Rwanda, Extinction Rebellion Rwanda and Stewards of Eden Rwanda.
Part two of our letter at #COP27 .
"We are the generation, young and old, indigenous and otherwise with the sacred duty and stewardship of overturning a destructive and inefficient economic system."

The saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom.

'the heat wave was so unprecedented it essentially broke most of the standard tools used to measure the human influence on heat waves'

Study: Climate change is increasing the frequency and temperature of extreme heat waves

As California awakens to the worsening risk of extreme climate events, researchers are shedding new light on last year's anomalous and extreme Pacific Northwest heat wave. One study published this week said such heat waves could become 20 times more likely to occur if current carbon emissions continue unabated. Another said they may also be nearly 10 degrees hotter.

My coping strategy for dealing with the #ClimateCrisis has been to see ourselves as the amazing complex biochemical machines we are that advanced too rapidly for our own good while beset with instincts and cravings adapted from a much simpler time (made easier through having only been diagnosed with autism last year where I always had been looking at the world as an outsider and spectator to an extent), but has made it much harder to relate to others and our current civilisation.

No viable path left to 1.5C.

From today’s White House briefing: “Under President Biden, oil and natural gas production has increased, and we are on track to hit the highest production in our country’s history next year.”

Utterly tragic for the Earth and our future. Words fail.

The colors provide an approximate indicator of global mean surface temperature anomaly over the time period. Deepest reds correspond to where we are today (about 1.3°C above pre-industrial). For the actual temp. anomaly plot, here's Berkeley Earth

2020 was nominally the second warmest year on Earth since 1850. It was slightly colder than 2016 but warmer than every other measured year.

System change, not climate change. We can not trust the incompetent idiots at the top to change things

When will 1.5 °C #globalwarming be exceeded?
We need to filter out short-term variability, hence use a trend line.
At the current rate we'll exceed 1.5 °C between the years 2035 and 2040 (using 20-year versus 50-year linear trend lines). Using NASA Gistemp data.
