Large cutting wheel of the tunnel boring machine TRUDE, an acronym for Tief Runter Unter Die Elbe (Deep Down Under the Elbe). It was the largest tunnel boring machine in the world at the time with an outer diameter of over 14 meters. For the extension of the new Elbe tunnel in Hamburg, a 2560-meter-long fourth tube was built between 1997 and 2000. The tunnel boring machine had an average speed of 6 meters per day.
