1284 Seconds

So, I've posted the 4 hours and 10 minutes version of this shot yesterday. This one here is almost the same (I envisioned this look actually with my first failed trial) but this one here was shot in about 21 minutes. The plan was to shoot 6 shots on the span of 2 hours, with each being for 21 minutes, but I didn't program the remote correctly unfortunately and ended up with one shot only; this one. Anyway, the main idea is to gather as much as possible of light trails and merge them into one image. The noise level is not as drastic (still there though) and cleaning it was somewhat easier than the previous one. The previous one went through many process (and still ended up grainy), while this one was cleaned in one go.
I don't like the general composition though and the trash bins just outside makes me cringe really. I need to find another (safe) location!

4 hours 10 minutes

Well, today's post is not artistic per se, but I loved to share this experiment. I hated to waste the image here and it was a subject of some experimenting.
As the title suggests, this shot is a long exposure for 4 hours and 10 minutes, done inside my car few days ago. I was hoping to capture some trails of lights, but I didn't get much except for the terrifying level of noise!
The top image is the original, and the bottom one is after some trials of noise reduction in various methods (I think I've done 2 or 3 iterations here using various techniques). The noise level in the original might be not much because of the small size, but originally, it was a measles-inflicted image!
What bothered me the most here is that my approach to use a "dark frame*" failed, and the technique didn't really change anything concerning the noise level. Thus, I had to do things manually on various levels to reduce the noise. The final outlook at the bottom is muddy after all of that and still contains some level of noise, but I think at this zooming level, it is somewhat acceptable (but not to be printed!).
Anyway, I just thought of sharing this experiment instead of wasting the experiment away. Maybe someone would find it useful in some way.

Entrance of the synagogue of Ulm, Germany, 2023.

On March 2nd I posted a picture of the synagoge of Ulm designed by KSG architects (second photograph). Apart from being a synagoge the building also houses a Jewish community centre within its beautiful and extremely well proportioned modernist cubical structure.

A Mezuzah (Hebrew: מְזוּזָה "doorpost"; plural: מְזוּזוֹת‎ mezuzot) is a piece of parchment inscribed with specific Hebrew verses from the Torah, which Jewish followers of Rabbinical Judaism affix to the doorposts of their homes. In mainstream Rabbinic Judaism, a mezuzah must generally be placed at the entrance and in every doorway in the home, with some exceptions such as bathrooms (which are not a living space) and small closets.

In the Bible, the word mezuzah only refers to the two 'doorposts' or 'doorjambs' of a door, the upright posts on either side of it which support the lintel, and appears in various contexts unrelated to any religious commandment or parchment. The word later acquired the modern meaning of piece of parchment in post-Biblical Hebrew due to the Deuteronomy commandment requiring to write verses on doorposts.

Opinion | Ricardo Scofidio Was the Wizard Behind the High Line’s Magic

What Ricardo Scofidio really wanted to do in designing a park that transformed its Manhattan neighborhood.

The New York Times
In the northern part of the “Anjeliersbuurt”, near the “Driehoekbuurt” 🔺 (triangle neighborhood) you’ll stumble upon this blind corner.

It fits within a well-known pattern of historic Amsterdam architecture in which corner facades have no windows due to different reasons. This is the corner of the Lijnbaansgracht and Goudsbloemstraat. 🪟
