@Remittancegirl This is very challenging. You are correct that AI therapists are not great but, at least in the US, we don't have enough therapists and getting enough isn't really possible.
That and AI can help ease emotional labor on the part of spouses, friends, etc. when you have significant trauma and don't have access to therapy. In my case, it's better to vent about nightmares I can't fix to an AI than my long suffering wife.
@cy TBH I never really left. I think of Mastodon and Tumblr almost like Hobbiton and Bree and come here when the other places are too much. Peaceful, quiet, and beautiful.
The main change is that I don't think there is anything in Mordor(Twitter) or Minas Tirith(BlueSky) worth the cost anymore.
Decided to walk away from BlueSky last week. No disrespect to anyone but I'm beginning to think most types of social media aren't for me.
