Viscri gilt als Museumsdorf, weil große Teile der historischen Bausubstanz erhalten geblieben sind. Die Siedlung wurde von Siebenbürger Sachsen gegründet und über Jahrhunderte kaum verändert. Viele Häuser stehen heute unter Denkmalschutz. Der Ort vermittelt ein ungewöhnlich geschlossenes Bild ländlicher Geschichte.
