The world is beautiful. The world is terrible. I like sunsets.

as we start to tip toward spring, I'm actually getting close to wrapping up all my old pre-PNW California highlights for #ThrowbackThursday ! but a few seasonally-appropriate #Bloomscrolling things, thes from Tule Elk Reserve in CA, April 2023

My Canon t3i is now 15 years old. I’ve started to have some trouble with the lens contacts, undoubtedly worn by thousands upon thousands of lens swaps. It’ll be time to buy a new camera body soon. I’ll miss that old camera. I’ve watched thousands of sunsets with it. I’ve learned to become a decent sunset photographer with it.
Happy Easter, Mastodon!
Here’s another shot from last night’s surprise sunset, a view of the clouds over rooftops. I’m impressed with the quality of the photos from my new iPhone 17 Pro Max. It lacks some of my venerable Canon t3i’s subtlety with sunset light, but it’s a lot closer than my old iPhone 12. I was glad to have the new iPhone along when I popped out to the street and suddenly saw this.
April 4, 2026. Wolverine Lake, Michigan.
The clouds fell to ground,
Swaddling our view in white.
‘Tis a fair soft day.
