population genomics at CNRS Univ Montpellier

#introduction I am an evolutionary #biologist working in population #genomics, at the Univ. of Copenhagen in #Denmark. I am interested in understanding #spatiotemporal and #ecological patterns of #genetic variation using ancient DNA. I am also interested in ethical science practices, e.g. #PeerCommunityIn and in research on #degrowth.

Finally, I am involved in scientist #activism via #ScientistRebellion, against climate and ecological breakdown.

I want to inaugurate my science Mastodon with this recent preprint with Lindi Wahl and Ryan Gutenkunst. We show that mutation rate modifiers are more likely to fix when they are also coupled with mutation bias modifiers that reverse the mutation bias of the original wild type modifier. In the rare case where all mutation types have the same mutation rate then this magnifying effect does not occur. https://doi.org/10.1101/2022.09.27.509708
Dear followers. I'm moving to Mastodon, I won't interact via Twitter anymore. But happy to keep tooting at @CastellanoED. I've enjoyed tremendously learning from you, feeling you and loling with you. See you at the end of the tunnel.
Any idea how to manage two profiles on mastodon?
I'm thinking about creating a DAFNEE account here, (but I suck at new tools)
ok 30 followed/followers in a sunday time, network is building up!
This increased probability of fixing mutation rate modifiers coupled with mutation bias modifiers is due to the undersampling of beneficial mutations under the ancestral or wild type mutation spectrum. The derived mutation bias modifier gives access to beneficial mutations that were less available (or not available at all) under the ancestral mutation spectrum. This is a very dynamic process where shifts in the mutation bias are likely driven by indirect positive selection #mutations #popgen
I don't quite understand this server thing. Is there a place where people talk about science I should register to?
I'm glad so many people is part of the Out-of-Twitter migration #introductions
Hi there
