🧬 How do changes in a non-catalytic residue collapse an entire enzyme’s function?
🔗 Conformational plasticity links structural instability of NAA10F128I and NAA10F128L mutants to their catalytic deregulation. Computational and Structural Biotechnology Journal, DOI: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.csbj.2024.11.014

Honourable mentions:
The Bug Club (wonky indie pop)
Ditz (queer, loud)
Mên An Tol (a bit like if Oasis held up to listening to now)
Skydaddy (pop/soft rock with additional instruments)
Waldo's Gift (instrumental electro-backed guitar wonkery)
Scaler (formerly Scraping) (dance-rock with intense visuals - did a better gig a few years ago, but still class)
Almost everything was good and enjoyable though. And things that weren't were got at least one.
Mutations festival highlights for me:
Party Dozen (loud, wonky drums n sax)
Adult DVD (driving electro-punk)
Ceann Capaill (soundscapes and poetry)
Coilguns (Swiss hardcore/noise, lovely lads)
Lynks (explicit, queer pop - drag-influenced but not drag)
Opus Kink (party rock with horns)
A fraction of stuff I couldn't fit in: Lambrini Girls, Teke::Teke, MadMadMad, Y, YANNG, Big Special, Vraell. Plus Pigsx7, seen them before - they're great.
Another edition of Mutations Festival finished in (not so this time of the year) sunny #BrightonAndHove - yes, at 2am. A rare chance for an early morning gig - a very special vibe if you make it there still wanting live music!
A few duds but generally really good quality this year - both days have been rough outside of the music but the gigs generally buoyed me, rather than events dragging the music down. Which isn't a given.
Highlights follow tomorrow!
