Social media: Threads vs Twitter

(Not a transport post)I've used a few social media and instant messenger services over the years. I'm not sure if Usenet, IRC and ICQ count, but SixDegrees certainly does. Then came Facebook,

"America’s automobile-dependent transportation system is making it impossible for us to fix a shortage of homes that now numbers in the millions, one reason that a new home is harder to afford than it has been in decades. The best place to build those homes is where people drive the least" #urbanism #waroncars #climate #housing https://slate.com/business/2023/06/suburbs-driving-traffic-housing-affordable-solutions.html

Several remote communities are at risk of being cut off as rising floodwaters continue to devastate the Kimberley region.

"The study also shows the lines we hear all the time from those complaining about bike lanes— 'nobody uses them, it rains too much,' or 'nobody rides in winter'—are not true. There seems to be little correlation between weather and cycling rate. Montreal, which is freezing and snow-covered in winter and has more rain than Melbourne, has an 18.2% rate of cycling usage.

It's all about the bike lanes."

There are regular bike parking bays along the length so you can leave a bike securely chained to board a connecting #tram, #train or #bus for #PublicTransport.

The mural was painted by artist Matt Adnate & depicts real residents from the apartments. It’s reportedly the tallest mural in the Southern Hemisphere.
