Working on an article that explains how one can use content scale factor to scale GUI in Godot, so I made this nifty demo project.

In short: it's good for apps and some games, but tricky for some other games (but the engine could be improved in this regard).

While I still work on the article, you can already find the demo project here:

Switching to Linux: hey this is actually pretty good

Ever since I've started using PCs, I've been using ones with Windows as its OS, going from my dad's XP PC to having my own one with 7, until eventually upgra...

Expect games to be playable on your hardware. Make games that are playable on many devices.

If you're into hi-end and experimentation, make sure that there is a graceful path for those who are not a part of the strongest economy in the world. People play games everywhere and they deserve to be able to enjoy them on whatever hardware they can get their hands on.

Stop eating the bullshit that is fed to you by marketing agencies. FFS.

In just a few short years we've switched from blaming the studios for releasing unoptimized mess to blaming the consumer for not owning the latest and greatest piece of hardware on the market.

Games are not luxury, they are at the base of human life. You don't need to own a 5090 and a 4K display to be able to play games. You should be able to play games with a hardware that you've managed to save up for 5-10 years ago. Budget PCs are the core of the player base. They are the majority.

Hmm, apparently when people say to you "this hardware is decade old, you can't expect it to run games at 1080p", and you respond that it's absurd — you get blocked 🤔

Oh well, let me repeat it for the entire room: the notion that a 5-10 year old piece of hardware is somehow incapable of doing the most basic thing in this day and age is a capitalist lie propagated by corporations which would love for you to keep buying their luxury-priced hardware year after year. It's a consumeristic mindset.

@eniko My 9 yr old asked i send these.
They said, "Can you give this to the creators? Tell them I'm JJ. No, tell her I'm Jarek. I didn't trace these. I traced the hands tho, I don't really know how to do hands yet. It took me like the total hours and minutes was like one hour and 59 minutes or 58. I have a timer on my wallpaper which helps me know how much time i have drawed. And I hope you have a great day."

i need to keep myself busy and actually feel like i'm useful for something, does anybody need a writer or video editor for a project, I'm really good at both, i'm also a very good editor for writing too

A huge number of really annoying-to-debug places in our code usually boil down to us not having been as strict with static typing in the past, even tho Godot having really cool tools for it.

I mean look at it: it let's you specify the type of a for each loop!

I can't wait for @godotengine to add support for interfaces/traits 😬

(Yes, there is a feature request for it but it is locked due to being out of scope: https://github.com/godotengine/godot-proposals/issues/6416)
