I'm a writer from the UK. I do threads mocking the political fuck-ups of the week. I've also written bestselling books taking a longer view of UK politics since 2010. I try to make it funny, even though it really isn't.

So I'll mostly be writing about that on here. And dogs.

I spent 30 years as a director-level software dude, and still do software stuff half the time, cos books don't pay. Also a painter, drummer, boxer and cancer survivor.

I'm finally watching #HarryandMeghan docuseries on Netflix.
I find it hard to believe the country as a whole believes the tabloid stories.
But what I find saddest is, by throwing Meghan (and Harry) out of the "family", what does that say about our real feelings about the Commonwealth and all of its "brown" people. Here was a massive chance, and the media wrecked it.
Seems it's more about control, and less about equality and union.

I'm not saying people have a basic inability to assess and react to threats, but Twitter is still abuzz over a single spy balloon from China, a nation with over 260 spy satellites in orbit. Meanwhile, a mutating virus is causing economy-damaging levels of disability, and fewer seem to care. It's easier to rattle sabers at China than to #WearAMask, I guess.

As an engineer that did maths through to university level. There is absolutely no need to force kids to do maths further than GCSE if they don't want to. The whole point of further education is that is allows people to focus in on the subjects they like and are good at..
