"The Fox and the Woodcutter", a fable attributed to Aesop.

I feel this piece is very appropriate to today's world.

Essentially, the fox is running from a hunter and asks a woodcutter permission to hide in his house.

The woodcutter says yes, but when the pursuing hunter asks him if he’s see the fox, he says no while at the same time pointing ferociously toward the fox’s hiding place within.

The hunter doesn’t get it, and moves on. The fox pops out and starts to scamper away and escape. The woodcutter says, “Hey, I saved your life and I get no thanks?!?”

And the fox says, “Your actions didn’t match your words. I will not thank someone who silently tried to kill me while their mouth spoke lies.”

This piece is based on Thumbelina, a fairy tale by Hans Christen Anderson. I'm not really a fan of the story, but there are a lot of moments in it that can be visually intriguing, and after thinking about it I was hard pressed to choose which image I wanted to do!

I settled on a moment in the story where "Tiny" (as she's nicknamed) ends up sitting in a flower. I chose to insert some patterned texture, making the piece feel more "mixed media" than I usually paint.

Here's a piece I'm calling "Whereto, Oh Waxwing?". It is a companion piece to the last post I made called "Bye Bye Blackbird".

This piece was entered in the Redwood Art Association's Halloween Exhibition. it was done entirely in Procreate, taking 6028 strokes of the stylus and 6hrs 11min to complete.

I agree—TOS can be vastly different for mobile apps than desktop websites. Mobile apps have historically been egregiously predatory with tracking. I won’t use it either.
