"We have no elected government, nor are we likely to have one, so I address you with no greater authority than that with which liberty itself always speaks. I declare the global social space we are building to be naturally independent of the tyrannies you seek to impose on us. You have no moral right to rule us nor do you possess any methods of enforcement we have true reason to fear."
—John Perry Barlow, "A Declaration of the Independence of Cyberspace"
OH, okay. I didn't know what quote posts were; I found this: https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2025/02/bringing-quote-posts-to-mastodon/
From that article:
Quote Posts are a popular feature of many social media platforms. They offer the ability to share another person’s post to one’s own followers, while adding a comment.
Is that all this new feature is gonna add? Because I really don't see how that's a problem either, personally. I think I might end up using that myself.
I don't mind. If I say something publicly, people can quote me as having said that if they want to. If someone wants to have a private conversation, they can click on either the Matrix link or the Signal link in my bio, and make that E2EE.

I think they look awesome. Not sarcasm. I also think cell phone towers, and high voltage stuff as long as it's above ground so I can see it, also look awesome. Also not sarcasm. So maybe I'm not the best person to ask. 😂
EDIT: sell phone towers. 🤦♂️
I still remember a conversation I had about solar panels with neighbors with extremely high power bills (a decade ago) and their comment was "but we don't like how they look on roofs".
Ancient egyptian royalty would literally shave, literally everything, literally everywhere… for some reason.
