Geologie: Erwärmung macht Blockgletscher instabil

Im Tiroler Ötztal wird ein Blockgletscher, ein hangabwärts fließendes Stein-Eis-Gemisch, durch die steigenden Temperaturen instabil. Neue Messungen zeigen, dass sich die Fließgeschwindigkeit im unteren Bereich des Blockgletschers stark erhöht hat, wodurch es häufiger zu Steinschlag kommt.

Apps, Drohnen und Co

Seine Errungenschaften sind die Basis der modernen Vermessung, die heute hoch technologisiert auch für die Abschätzung von Naturgefahren angewandt wird. Zurzeit werden mit Apps, Satellitenbildern, Drohnen und 3D-Laserscan-Methoden räumliche Daten zur Kartenerstellung verwendet. Ein komplexes Unterfangen, wobei dennoch die Arbeit im Gelände erforderlich ist.
