We’re atheist, so Christmas isn’t the biggest deal for us, but we do have little things to make the downtime special. My daughter made cookies, so that’s my brunch sorted! Tonight we order from The Best Chinese Restaurant In Town (that’s what it says on the sign, so we go with it). #JoinIn

I found a hidden plain cake layer as I was going through the freezer to gather stock ingredients, so now I’m enjoying a piece schmeared with some of my homemade blackberry jam from the summer. Oh hell yeah.
It’s nice and cold outside so I put the giant stockpot on the stove to use up carcasses of chicken and turkey that I saved in the freezer.
I let it cook all day and night, and cool it off outside. I probably will pressure can most of it, the extra work up front makes it so convenient later. #Induction range makes it possible to finely control the simmer, absolutely love it.
When puppies grow up with cats, interesting cross cultural behaviors emerge. She likes sitting on the back of the couch, but as she’s pushing 70lbs, it’s getting a bit awkward. #Rottweiler #DogsOfMastoron
