We need to talk about this whole "But a living wage for farm workers would spike the cost of food!" thing.
Not true AT ALL.
Y'all don't understand how fast experienced farm workers are.
The average tomato picker pulls 650lbs per hour.
At $20/hr, that's $0.03/lb for labor.
It's Disability Pride Month, but honestly—I'm angry.
I use the elevator due to Long Covid, and I still get comments like "Just one floor? Take the stairs." Mostly from older, white, male coworkers outside my team. My direct colleagues get it. Others? Not so much.
Invisible disabilities are real. I'm tired of justifying my needs.

The Western Science Center's alligator lizard (Elgaria multicarinata) moved into its new habitat earlier this week, beside our display of Pleistocene microvertebrate fossils from Diamond Valley Lake. As I mentioned last week, these lizards are native to the area, and have been for a long time. We actually have Elgaria
Today (July 10) at 3:00 pm Pacific, Western Science Center Collections Manager Brittney Stoneburg will by doing a Polar STEAM livestream from the RV Steadfast in LeConte Bay, Alaska, where a team of scientists is doing @NSF - funded research on melting glaciers.
