My Homelab

I’ve finally got around to making this next post, and decided this will be a bit of detail and background into my Homelab setup. I started off my homelabbing journey using a Raspberry Pi 1 Model B+ and deployed Pi-hole to it as I am a massive hater of ads and trackers. This got me into the whole idea of deploying and hosting something locally and it was cool to see it have a tangible effect on my life. I actually still have this same Pi-hole deployed at my mum’s house as the DHCP and DNS server.

Always remember:

1. This ban happened because successive US Presidents Trump and Biden disliked the speech that was taking place on TikTok. No other reason.

2. Maybe you don't use TikTok. If the US Government can do this to TikTok, it can *and will* do it to whatever thing it is you like. This is true *even if the TikTok ban never goes into effect*. The U.S. now has a loaded, functioning weapon against free speech, and the next person who gets to use it is Donald Trump

U.S. Supreme Court upholds law banning TikTok

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled against TikTok on Friday in its challenge to a federal law that would have required the popular short-video app to be sold by its Chinese parent company ByteDance or banned in the United States on Jan. 19.

I am far less concerned, as a practical matter, over whether or not my ISP is #spying on my data or whether or not I need to use a #VPN, than whether or not #computer OS and hardware manufacturers and browser software are providing unique device identifiers to websites and applications that can be used to track me even if I completely wipe the device, change location and IP address, delete my accounts, and start over. #security #privacy #tracking #fingerprinting

Location data of 800.000 Volkswagen cars leaked, 30 million location data points of apps leaked, and 40.000 apps intentionally selling location data, including apps you might use once to track your flight. This is what happened to your location data in the past month.

Location data is valuable, so we need to treat it as such. We are still surveying the perspective of users towards location data:
