Here's a thing about branching paths. I find myself in a conversation with @lauraritchie @taniasheko, and I want to bring in @actualham @cogdog @daniellynds @catherinecronin @Dan_Blick @mdvfunes @fgraver and so on and so on

Because for the first time I'm concerned that the noise on timelines here might mean a conversation is missed. And maybe I hope this discussion of faith, truth and lenses is critical to us all.

This is a question about how mastodon works, how things surface.

Now I know that technically the Home timeline is this, but I think there's something else that happens to push a notification out to a whole group, and in Twitter maybe hashtags sometimes do this.

I'm conscious that there are 70,000 somewhere here, and maybe 50-60 critical pedagogues, and when it comes to faith and truth maybe I want to know how this smaller group think.

Is this a "get a room" moment, @Triplefox?

It is important that they stem from your post- to be mapped by reply, as Mastodon currently does. That way we don't lose anything. ...let's do it! I'm off to sleep. @katebowles I read slow. I hear voices when I read. Kate - you have a voice in my head. One day, when I meet you I'll learn if it matches yours... so this bit shouted out at me, and not only did I hear your voice, but I reached out and clasped your hand. " calling out to each other. Learning is hard and in every sense, time is short. Our human bandwidth is at capacity." @katebowles I love so much that you said this at the *very moment* I was lurking in that conversation in my Home timeline. So, I completely agree and want to be able to add people, branch and reconnect, respect people wanting to drop off. Also, it's cool that I could, w the tiniest bit of activation energy/suspension of introversion, insert myself in that extremely interesting "lenses" conversation.

What if we let go of the desire to be up and down all great conversations? I don't mind wading into the middle, sometimes going upstream, but sometimes just blurting in the middle. If it's really important, someone can amplify.
