🚨 They are bringing back #ChatControl 🚨

Metsola doesn't understand that no means no.

Discussion is scheduled for Monday, so act now: https://fightchatcontrol.eu/

#No2Surveillance #Privacy #Security

@Tutanota I don't really understand how it can just keep coming up again and again and again and again. This kind of stuff should be illegal. If a bill/amendment/whatever is rejected, at bare minimum it should be off the table until a new parliament is formed. Not just lol 6 months later kind of thing.
@projectmoon @Tutanota "How about chat control?"
"No."
"How about chat control?"
"No."
"How about chat control?"
"No."
"How about chat control?"
"No."
"How about chat control?"
"No."
@phl @projectmoon @Tutanota it's modern tech, so there isn't a "no" option, just "maybe later".
@phl @projectmoon @Tutanota "How about chat control?"
"No"
"How about chat control?"
"No"
"So it's a yes?"

@projectmoon @Tutanota because a big company of mass scanning have brib.... lobyed via fake "protect the children" non profit, to make this happen.

So all the politics you see push as hard as possible are brib.... lobyed.

@Tutanota They can't be bargained with. They can't be reasoned with. They don't feel pity, or remorse, or fear! And they absolutely will not stop, ever, until you accept mass surveillance!
@Tutanota I am sick of this people. No is no!!!!

@Tutanota
#Metsola has the mentality of a person around whom you cover your drink.

@elena

@dzwiedziu

Have I got this right?

You are saying ""The EU (still) wants to..." when in fact the EU doesn't want to, but some small faction is trying to get them to implement it?

@Walrus
I'm only retooting this message (see the toot I've replied to), alas yes.

@dzwiedziu

Sorry, should have replied to the OP, not you! Not enough coffee yet!

It's misrepresentation, then. Or scare-mongering.

@Walrus
No problem!

Can you elaborate on the latter?

@dzwiedziu

I agree with their campaign against chat control. But saying the EU wants it, when it's just some pressure group (or whatever they are) trying to force it through, is not right.

@Walrus
This is a bit understandable interpretation, if the EU Parliment president wants to force CC and 23 of 27 member states want it.

But I agree that's a generalisation and that's bad, as you say.

@dzwiedziu Roberta Metsola is the President of the Parliament. Typically this figure doesn't have much power.

The President of the Commission is Ursula Von Der Leyen.
@Walrus

@s1m0n4
Thanks, corrected.

Still, keep your drink covered.

@Walrus

@Tutanota in Germany the support seems to be purely cdu csu and spd, the current ruling and historically strong establishment political parties. I like them not 🫩
@poddus @Tutanota the SPD is kinda divided, remember that Birgit Sippel criticized the redoing of the vote on March 26th and voted in favour of both amendment 34 and 35
@Tutanota It's so dissappointing seeing the EU go down this path.
@Tutanota Any law that doesn't originate from public demand is 9 times out of 10 an evil law.
Also 23 Vs. 4 is shocking.
@niknabno
Be very careful about public demand. If the UK had consulted the public on the death penalty we would still be hanging people. Another later public demand resulted in the UK's withdrawal from the EU.
@Tutanota

@MurrayWindripper @Tutanota
Yup, also true.
People can be trusted to *try* to act in the best interests of them and their community.

But often act in somebody else's best interests.
e.g. Maga

Or just act stupidly.

@Tutanota needing constant vigilance on all fronts is tiring and they know it

@Tutanota

Won’t take no for an answer indeed..

@Tutanota Oh my ####### lord and holy big-tech ### licking.

Time to sent a few emails then.

@Tutanota WHen i try to send the email, Tuta tells me that it can't reach the servers and i might be "offline" but i am not. .-.
@Tutanota Whoop. It worked with a different address.
@Azarilh Weird, please let us know if it happens again. Or switch the connection.
@Tutanota what is so important in our private messaging?
@Tutanota i written a e-mail to my MEPs
@Tutanota perhaps its much better and effective for authorities to find other ways to combat child abuse. Ways that respect the privacy of all eu residents. remember that child abuse was there long before all digital means were available on this scale and nobody talks about the expected effectiveness of applying these privacy invasive methods.
@Tutanota retarded EU MPs try not to make a surveillance state for 5 fucking minutes challenge (failed, impossible)
@Tutanota If I were in the EU I’d contact someone. All I can really do is boost and hope it reaches others who can contact their MEPs.
@Tutanota please also make an actual public stance against genai, instead of the silence we are getting

@Tutanota Democracy Comission style: If the result is not in my favor, you voted wrong so we need to vote again.
@Tutanota it isn't about protecting children as they often cite, thousands of girls were raped in England by mostly Pakistanis with the knowledge of the government.
This is about controlling us, we can see the wheels are coming off our so called democracies in Europe.
@starvaldD @Tutanota can you provide sources about those rapist profile statistics? Otherwise it's quite offensive towards the Pakistani from your side
Grooming gangs scandal - Wikipedia

@starvaldD it literally says "In spite of high-profile cases being tied by media and public perception to the British Pakistani community, there is poor data regarding the background of grooming gang members on a national scale."

@Tutanota

Fucking again? Already??? Ugh.

@Tutanota very democratical move by metsola... not!
Share this with your friends and send mails / calls!
@Tutanota We are trying to combat hysteria (think of the children!) with logic, it's never going to work. Somebody plastering a few billboards with a local authority figure and the comment "Send your wife's latest nudes to him Yes/No" would have turned that hysteria right back at them.

@Tutanota I don't understand the 'score' for each European parliament member on the website https://fightchatcontrol.eu

When I check the profile of a Dutch PvdA (thus S&D) representative it says 'supports'. The contrary of what one would expect.

But in the details it says 'Chat Control 1.0 Extension - supports' and 'Chat Control 2.0 - Opposed'

What is this about?

@rrr @Tutanota
In March, all Dutch S&D MEPs voted against a proposal by the Greens/EFA to withdraw the vote on Chat Control 2.0, which is why they are listed as ‘supports’. https://www.europarl.europa.eu/doceo/document/PV-10-2026-03-25-RCV_EN.pdf

A day later, almost everyone from PRO voted against Chat Control 1.0. https://mepwatch.eu/10/vote.html?v=189270&country=nl

If you have confirmation that the MEP is against #ChatControl, you can forward it to: contact[at]fightchatcontrol.eu

@m4963 @Tutanota

Right, version 2.0 is before 1.0 and the vote against 1.0 a day later was against.

You have completely lost me now. This has stopped making sense.

Is there somewhere a quick explanation for citizens who are not deeply involved but are concerned?

@rrr
I would recommend taking a look at these timelines:
- https://fightchatcontrol.eu/#timeline
- https://www.patrick-breyer.de/en/posts/chat-control/#timeline

Chat Control 1.0 and 2.0 refer to the sequence of the proposals, but more importantly, to the content of the bill.

1.0 was active for five years in the form of voluntary scanning by social media platforms. Its extension was rejected in March.

2.0 was a proposal introduced in 2022 that would have made the scanning of emails and private messages mandatory.

@m4963 The timeline works perfectly. To visualise it.
@m4963 In that light, I can't really hold it against them to not support the extension of Chat Control 1.0 as it was on a voluntary basis and done by social media platforms. For the politicians good to show that they are concerned about the issue and vote for some crap solution that is not as bad as 2.0 that really should be stopped at all cost.
@Tutanota should mention that shit is a DIRECT violation of democracy
@Tutanota It's almost like we've gotten used to "Yes" / "Maybe later" questions somehow.

@Tutanota Wenn Verschlüsselung verboten wird, dann kommunizieren Kriminelle trotzdem verschlüsselt. Normale Bürger sind dann im Internet entblößt und stellen ihr Privatleben zur Schau.
