#WorldOfOntyre 13

It’s strange how we talk about how we knew where we were when a major event occurred. Yes, I recall seeing the 1969 moon landing.

I also remember facts about my books, like where the initial spark came from and how it developed. Those are also memories that I treasure.

It’s my hope that you, too, have similar memories, even if you’re the only one, like me, who remembers.

Be everwell.

I remember the hushed awe of the silence as the world held its breath and waited for touchdown. Virtually all traffic had stopped and radios played only the commentary, whilst TVs were all tuned to the landing.

"The Eagle has landed." was greeted by cheering across the country.

@Owen_G_Richards I was ten-years-old and it was late on the east coast, but I was allowed to stay up late to see it on our black and white television. There was a general sense of a new age begun that was real from a deep space perspective. Voyager, for instance.

Just a year younger than you, but the experience of such vivid empathy inspired by the actions of that crew, still burns brightly - though mostly as a memory now.

The spirit of adventure was unleashed upon the world at that time... a spirit that has since been diminished and squandered by the world's leadership.

Grainy black and white images - even the TV was an adventure in itself - until it was severely commercialised.
