And not being able to find the cats.

So she built this.

It took years, but her agency had built her sovereignty.

And as far as we know, she still lives happily there.

She has good aim, that one.

@ObsidianUrbex this is a first prototype of a "walking machine" by the british inventor Sir Alfred Tobias-Ambrosius Theios Ashton-Tate. His invention became at a later point in history -and another galaxy- the infamous AT-AT walking machine. Named after his initials.
@ObsidianUrbex
The Trolls (who normally live Under the bridge and terrorize passersby) won the lottery. They moved Up in the world and for decades handed out individual lima beans to anyone who crossed (through their filthy living room)
@ObsidianUrbex The house of Baba Yaga's seafaring cousin, obviously!
Diplodocus toothbrushing station

@ObsidianUrbex

Wreckage left over from the Martian invasion in HG Wells' War of the Worlds perhaps?

@ObsidianUrbex It is the result of a fascinating bureaucratic mishap where for some reason they defined the property the house sits on as coordinates in 3d space rather than a two-dimensional boundary and they slightly miscalculated the Z-axis.
@ObsidianUrbex Built at the last minute for a birthday party 20 years ago, it's Howl's Moving Castle!

One of the last wild houses.

This is a garage for a flying car.

In the 1950s, it was thought that we'd all have something like this to call home, that commuting would be a breeze, and congestion a thing of the past.

@ObsidianUrbex (Extraterrestial narrator): The year is 3192, humanity is extinct, but remnants of a once thriving civilization remain.

Pictured here is a skeleton of what we now believe to be the skeleton of a Very Large Human, a ballet dancer. At the time of the Very Serious Extinction Event, this human individual was happily dancing in the river - you can see its frontal leg still reaching out! -, wearing large concrete dancing shoes for balance.

Judging from the signatures on the shoes, presumably from celebrities of their time, and the solid build of its metal bones, we assume this individual was a respected member of human society. An athlete, perhaps.

It died dancing, happy. That's a good way to go.

@ObsidianUrbex

It is obviously a transit station for flying boats.

@ObsidianUrbex Early “walking bridge” ferry. It worked for several months with a capacity of six lorries, or 20 farmer’s carts, or four classrooms of terrified schoolchildren.

Eventually retired because it required too many workers to keep moving the concrete “feet” one in front of the other each trip back and forth to remain practical.

Still used in remote, undeveloped parts of the world such as Cleveland, Ohio.

@ObsidianUrbex a £2.3 million property in Battersea marketed as "a great investment opportunity, expected rent of £4000 per month, could need some minor modernisation and renovation."

Previous owners include: a sanctioned oligarch, a kleptocrat dictators cronie who is being investigated by the ICC, a disgrased authoritarian petro state dignitary, a very divorced multi-millionaire/billionaire, now a complex investment vehicle of untracable ownership based in Liechtenstein (probably controlled by one of the prior)

@ObsidianUrbex I'm pretty sure it's a marine house from the future that has travel back a few hundred years (by looking at the water level)
@ObsidianUrbex A shed wearing platform shoes.

@ObsidianUrbex

@ObsidianUrbex cousin of local congressman continues to get highly subsidized flood insurance despite demonstrated risks.

@ObsidianUrbex The best kids club house ever...

Especially if that conveyor on the end can be turned into a slide
