[P] I'm curious about the intersection of the normalised monster traits of humanity and breeding. To begin, the world is clearly overpopulated, claiming otherwise is spreading wealthy whitey billionaire propaganda.

The earth IS grossly overpopulated. This is science fact. So why is it denied? Why is the propaganda believed? I want to examine that a little bit.

Earth's Population Has Surpassed The Planet's Capacity, Study Suggests

The human population has already grown too large and demanding for Earth to sustainably support at current consumption levels, a new study warns.

ScienceAlert

[P] I think it's callous to bring a child into this cruelty. Thanks to monsters, ours is a dying world, and a cruel one. Everything is worse for each new generation. As it stands, without extreme population degrowth? There is no future. It'll only get worse. How could one look at such a cruel, dying world and think "Gosh, what a perfect environment for a child!" without being a monster?

@wearywulf

You're somewhat right. There are too many people now. Humanist civilization is collapsing. The brutalism of 6000 years ago is back. Most humans will have horrible lives, while a few deviates will do as they please. However...

It's not a good idea for good, decent, smart people to choose to be childless. Should we extinguish all that is good?

Better, maybe, to have one child. Raise it strong, righteous, and learned. Help it survive the Hellstorm. The World won't die.

@oldclumsy_nowmad @wearywulf

if you want to try to parent in a way that brute society doesn't facilitate, best would be to join/hang-out-in/explore "egalitarian" communities. Single children of odd parents dont necessarily do well alone and are intensive! You could even be a co-parent without having to reproduce!

Kids really do need other kids. And it's good to observe and learn from older/younger children, and multiple adults. Several friends (or relatives, or people with common interests and opinions) can arrange shared play and learning for their kids.

I don't think having just one child means that the child has to be lonely or unsocialized. We need to think in creative ways about child-rearing, but we don't have to produce too many children.
